DESTINATION ROTORUA: REVEALING ROTORUA’S GEMS     Promotional campaigns require a huge level of investment, it is important to make sure that the right message gets out and is successful, so making sure you know the people you are targeting is crucial. We worked extensively with Destination Rotorua and their PR agency Village to develop the ‘Famously Rotorua’ campaign. Our objective was to identify the key customer insights and use these to provide direction for the campaign to grow their domestic tourism business.  To do this we needed to understand the key drivers in the domestic travel market, the hooks and barriers for Rotorua as a destination and to understand from local residents, what it is that they truly love about their home town. Using qualitative and quantitative research techniques with people throughout New Zealand, we got a deep understanding of what would really motivate New Zealanders to make Rotorua their holiday destination.  We used this understanding to help Destination Rotorua optimise the ‘Famously Rotorua’ campaign to tell a relevant, credible and compelling story around Rotorua as an appealing domestic travel destination. This project has been part of successful ‘Famously Rotorua’ campaign which has delivered more visitors to Rotorua since 2010. We track the on-going performance of this campaign and other campaigns for Destination Rotorua with our awareness monitor, so they can measure the effectiveness and optimise their promotional spend, and because we are completely independent of their agencies,  they can be completely confident with the results. TAURA FOODS: NEW OPPORTUNITIES, NEW MARKETS FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH TAURA FOODS: NEW OPPORTUNITIES, NEW MARKETS FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH Taura Foods is a very successful manufacturer of dehydrated fruit ingredients for food manufacturers all over the world.   To ensure on-going growth Taura Foods were keen to explore new direct to consumer opportunities, both within New Zealand and abroad. Delve Research & Strategy worked with their creative agency, Wave to develop the new consumer brand positioning and packaging concepts.  We conducted a series of focus groups to determine what products, brand and packaging would provide the best opportunity for Taura Foods. With several challenges to identify the target consumer, the category that offers the best opportunity and the complex competitive landscape both nationally and internationally, this project provided a deep understanding to both Wave and Taura Foods from which a clear consumer marketing strategy has been developed. CERTIFIED BUILDERS: DELIVERING BETTER MESSAGES   The building industry is competitive, not only for all the different building companies but also for the various industry bodies that support the builders themselves.  Delve Research & Strategy has worked with Wave Agency over a number of years to improve the performance of one of the key industry bodies, Certified Builders. Our work for them has included brand awareness monitoring, allowing them to measure the success of their advertising and messaging to improve their performance. Most recently, Certified Builders are looking at how they can modernise their brand to carry it forward over the next 10 years. Delve Research & Strategy has been working with Wave Agency to facilitate workshops with homeowners to help identify what are the key elements of brand logos and messaging that instill trust in this category. CLASSIC FLYERS: WORKING TOGETHER TO UNLEASH A UNIQUE CONFERENCING EXPERIENCE. Classic Flyers is a not for profit organisation that holds one of the largest collections of collectable aeroplanes in New Zealand.  In addition their successful exhibitions, Classic Flyers provides a truly unique function and conference centre. As a business Classic Flyers has a number of different business units all responsible for making the place break even. The function and conference centre component of their business, although responsible for a large part of their turnover was the least understood. Our job was to help Classic Flyers better understand their business customers and what they were looking for when it came to meeting rooms and hosting conferences so it could work harder for their bottom line. Our research culminated with a series of workshops with key staff where we worked through the research findings to map out the key actions required to ensure that the customer feedback was implemented into the business to make it more successful.  Working with Classic Flyers in a workshop environment ensured that all key staff and management knew and understood what customers wanted and knew what it was about Classic Flyers that made people return time and again. BALLANCE: TURNING WASTE INTO PROFIT   Turning a waste product into something profitable is every companies dream. Working in partnership with Jodi Tong Marketing, Delve Research & Strategy helped Ballance Agri–Nutrients do just that. We were approached to help Ballance obtain an indepth understanding of a new market category for them. The new product was a by-product of an existing process, they knew other companies were selling it, but they had no idea how to sell it themselves.  They needed to know how to get it into the marketplace, to identify what customers really wanted and how to successfully reach them. Based on the insights from the research conducted by Delve Research & Strategy, Ballance quickly succeeded in the market. Terry Smith from Ballance commented on returning from the initial sales trip, that he knew all the concerns any potential client had and how to mitigate these concerns. Needless to say deals were signed and our client was happy.
